Fishing

Spring angling is always a Temagami highlight of the year so if you are an avid fisher, this is a
great time for you to visit. There is a wild range of fish for you from Lake Trout, Walleye, Pickerel, Small
Mouth Bass, Pike, and Whitefish as well as some rare species such as Auroa Trout, Blue Pickerel,
Burbout who all call Lake Temagami home.

Cross Lake Adventures

Cross Lake is the primary inflow, at the west of the lake from Outlet Bay on the
South Arm of Lake Temagami. There are numerous unnamed creek inflows, including ones from Willis
Lake at the north and McAdam Lake at the east, as well as the Temagami River at the southwest.
There is much to explore through Cross Lake’s undisturbed land. Camp, portage, fish, visit the dam???

High Rock

High Rock is located on Lake Temagami it’s a nice short but steep hike to the top and well
worth it. At the highest point of High Rock Island (with an elevation of 371 m) you can take in many
scenic viewpoints overlooking Lake Temagami.

White Bear Forest

 The White Bear Forest is an old growth forest. The forest is named after Chief White
Bear, who was the last chief of the Teme-Augama Anishnabai before Europeans appeared in the region.
Enjoy hand-curated trail maps, along with reviews for beautiful photos ops along the way!

Caribou Mountain / Fire Tower

 With only a short walk from the parking lot you will find a 100-foot tall fire tower on the summit of Caribou Mountain. Climb to the top for stunning panoramic views of the surrounding lakes.
The tower is closed from climbing during the winter, but the trails and other viewing platforms are
accessible year-round.

Ice Fishing

Tamar has 20 huts from day huts to sleeping bungalows for you to enjoy. You will find a variety of fish
from Whitefish, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye and Spotted Seatrout. The lake is
quite large, we are located on the Southwest Arm of Lake Temagami where the lake can be as deep as
120m in some areas and the lake is quite large stretching almost 50 km from the North to South and
about 35 km from East to West.

Ice Fishing Packages
Using Tamar as your base, you can fish off the local ridges (where our ice huts are located) or venture off to a hidden lake for your own secluded excursion.

With our ice fishing packages we make it easy for you to enjoy the outdoors in the winter, combining a
cottage and ice hut. We can arrange pickups at the landing in a caboose or for those of you with your
own sleds you can just come to Tamar. All the cabins are insulated for winter, with electric heat and we
have lots of dry hardwood as well as airtight stoves for overnight burning. We supply pots, pans, cutlery
and serving utensils. Each cabin could have large stove top pot for hot water and a BBQ, on request.
To go along with the cabins is your 4-person ice fishing hut within walking distance of the cabin. The
huts are comfortable, warm, and heated with propane furnaces. They have 4 holes, shelves for your
stuff, a large table, windows and is equipped with 12-volt lighting.

15-day notice of any cancellations is required. Fishing license are the responsibility of the individual.
Tackle and fishing gear is not included.
